MARKET VISIT REINFORCES CONFIDENCE TO LAUNCH IN UNITED ARAB EMIRATES (UAE)
Serious opportunities gained from a recent visit to Dubai and Abu Dhabi has reinforced Quantum’s confidence in launching into the Dubai boating market.In late May, Quantum met with some of Dubai’s top boating industry executives to gain a perspective on the market opportunities. With such a welcoming response from local industry and potential partners Quantum is looking to launch the 4000 series there early next year.A big thanks to all the people we met with and to Peter Burt from NZTE for all his support throughout the trip.
The Palms Marina (above) is a new 600 berth marina in Dubai that is almost finished construction. There is a serious shortage of berthing spaces in Dubai, and hundreds more are needed to keep up with the high demand for luxury boating.
HYDROFOIL SYSTEM IS CONFIRMED AS STANDARD FEATURE ON ALL QUANTUM POWER CATAMARANS.
To meet market demands for more speed and lower fuel consumption, Quantum has announced the addition of the Hysucat hydrofoil system as a standard feature of all 4000 series models.Hydrofoils have been proven to increase the top speed of power catamarans on average by 40 percent. Apart from the key benefit of faster top speed, hydrofoils have many other advantages including up to 40 percent more travelling range, up to 40 percent less fuel consumption, faster acceleration between speeds, and a smoother ride.
Hydrofoils are already being fitted to catamarans in production.
The system consists of one main wing shaped hydrofoil bolted between the keels of the power ca! tamaran, close to the centre of gravity of the vessel, and two stern hydrofoils mounted in the tunnel near the transom under the waterline. As the Catamaran increases speed the hydrofoil system produces lift forces which partially lift the boat out the water and thereby reduce the wetted area of the hull.Because the hydrofoil system carries the weight of the catamaran more efficiently than the hulls themselves, the boat goes faster with the same engine power (normally 20 - 40% faster).
